Lets go East

 

The east was our chosen direction for yet another cool but fine winters morning that saw a crew of five of us line up on Andrew Young St. Gary A was on his BMW GS 650 twin, a bike he loves with its fuel efficient engine and great adventure bike ergonomics, Rich was on his Vstrom, Dave on his Guzzi and Bruce A on his trusty BMW. The usual climb over the track was a little subdued as there are a lot of road works on the western side of the track. This is so the next lot of wind turbines can be built and serviced as a contribution to us as a country as we become more sustainable in our energy needs. 

We made our way down to the Mangamaire turnoff where Gary and rich decided on a little bit of an adventure ride down Kopikopiko Rd. whilst they were completing that run the rest of us headed off to Pahiatua to wait for them at our favourite bakery. They eventually turned up with a hair raising story about an electric fence stretched across a road! I think Gary shouted himself an extra sausage role for surviving that one. It was then off back home to mow the lawn and other domestic chores. Still, it was worth it to get out and about on the bikes for a few hours and enjoy the fine weather.
