Manawatu Classics October Ride

It was a great turnout for the Manawatu Classic Motorcycle Clubs October Club meeting and monthly ride. After the official business was done followed by a cuppa courtesy of Winston the Tea Lady, the quiet country scene was interrupted with the sound of twenty something motorcycles being started. They soon left the Vintage Car Club rooms and assembled up just down the road ready for road Captain Graham to give the signal to move out. We were soon on our way heading towards Ashhurst, then onto the Gorge to view the progress of the replacement Gorge road. We were soon climbing the Pahiatua track and heading towards the Tararua district with the steadily growing number of windmills well and truly dominating a a very changed landscape. Our descent down the other side had us encountering a road with a significant range of road surfaces that not to long ago wasn't this hard on your kidneys. Maybe it's time for an Adventure bike?

The finish of the track saw an alternative route explored by some to Ballance. We were soon pointing in the right direction for the run over the Saddle Road and it was nice to see the road in remarkably good condition compared to the Pahiatua Track. The road was very busy as usual and we soon arrived at our final destination, the Ashhurst Inn. They certainly did a great job with the Covid service routine. From the taking of orders at the tables through to delivery they were courteous and efficient. The food wasn't to bad either.

A big thank you to those who organised the ride and looking forward to more club rides this spring and summer.
