Manawatu Classic Motorcycle Club BBQ 2022

This is a wonderful occasion that brings together all the different people who make the Club so successful. Mount Lees is proving to be a a very appropriate venue for this annual event with its pavilion set amongst   park like grounds. It is renowned for its spring daffodil display when people come from miles around to enjoy frolicking through them. The only frolicking for this event was for those who decided to make there way to the venue on motorcycles and the meeting place for this was something new for everyone.

With the main event being a picnic lunch at twelve the plan was to meet 10:30 at the new clubrooms. The Bunnythorpe Community Centre has recently been opened and the committee has made the decision to shift from the Vintage Car Club rooms on Kelvin Grove Road. Whilst we didn't get to go inside the building everything was sparkling new. Should prove to be a great venue. The carpark quickly filled up with a range of modern's and classic's and after Road Captain John called everyone in, he outlined our route for the morning. The carpark was soon reverberating to the sound of Enfield's, Vincents, Harley's, Triumphs, Ducati's, Matchless, BMW's, Kawasaki's, Guzzi's, and a Can Am!

The route took us through many familiar roads with a stop off at Stanway Hall and then onto our final destination at Mount Lees Reserve.  Waiting for us was a wonderfully catered for BBQ that had been organised by Mike, Brenda, Kahn and other's whose names I can't remember. Much appreciated. You could buy something to drink for a couple of bucks and then stand/sit and chat to people. A very pleasant way to spend a morning and a lunchtime.

All too soon it was time to head off home. So with full tummy and a happy heart it was back on the bike and a very pleasant ride through some glorious summer weather. Congratulations to the club for a very successful first event and in what looks like a busy 2022 calendar for the year.
