The Apiti Loop Revisited

With spring well under way the Classic's Crew decided that the weather and the road conditions around the Apiti Loop had improved enough for us to to complete the loop. Looking back at the blog it looked as though the last time around was year ago so there has been significant disruption due to Cyclone Gabrielle in February this year. After heading through Ashhurst we were soon heading up the Pohangina Valley with Stuart in the lead on his KLE 500. It was great to have Jason along for his first run out with us on his Katana. At first sight one is certain that you are looking at an 1100 or 750 Kat from the eighties but then as it gets closer something seems different. It is a well executed scaled down replica of the original version and it is the person size to bike size that starts to give it away. Looking forward to Jason bringing it out for one of our Blue Haze end of month rides.

There is still plenty of evidence of the damage done to countryside and the roads with plenty of caution needed with gravel and other debris littering the road in places. We all got through safe and sound and headed for Hansens Cafe in Kimbolton. After parking up outside the cafe the warmth from the sunshine was certainly appreciated as we supped on our beverages, sausage rolls and even one of there pizzas! (Recommended!). It wasn't to long after our arrival a number of other motorcyclists turned up to enjoy the hospitality on what was a magnificent spring day. A great way to 'start' the new riding season.

More of the same please!
