The Manawatu Classic Motorcycle Club recently held another highly successful motorcycle show. It had been a while since the last show in 2018, so there was much anticipation within the motorcycle community when word got out earlier this year that it was going ahead. The committee organising the show is to be congratulated on the immense effort required to put such an event together, and with the help of many other club members on the day, it ran very smoothly.

Run over two days, the many facets of the motorcycle community were well represented, with over 260 bikes on show. The door takings saw $8,000 raised for the Arohanui Hospice Trust and another $8,000 for the Grassroots Trust Rescue Helicopter.

Upon entering the venue, visitors were greeted with what felt like ‘acres’ of bikes. The many clubs, sports, and individuals who share their passion for two and three wheels came together, reminding everyone that motorcycling is alive and well in the community. It looked and felt as though the spirit of the classic movie ‘On Any Sunday’ was present throughout the two days.

It has been pleasing to see the response to the show from those who came from outside the region. Club newsletters and conversations at the event were full of praise for the numbers and variety of bikes, as well as the quality of restorations. For those who were unable to make it, the photos and video will give you some appreciation of this, and for those of us who attended, an opportunity to find some more gems we may have missed as we viewed and chatted our way around the show.

Once again, a big thank you to the Manawatu Classic Motorcycle Club and those who contributed their bikes to the show.
