A Fine Autumn Day. What to Do?

The last week or so has seen some settled weather over our part of the country, and today a few of the Classics Crew thought it would be a good time to head off around the countryside to enjoy the sunshine and warmish temperatures before winter arrives. Our meetup at Memorial Park saw a turnout of nine bikes and riders. All we needed was a destination for a cuppa and a route to get there. Luckily, we had Mr Map (Gary A) on hand, who knows his way around the many roads in this area, and he suggested the long way to the Woolshed Cafe, which was received very favourably by the crew. With Gary in the lead, we set off on our way, zagging and zigging out towards Ashhurst first, Hiwinui, Valley Road, around the back of Feilding, Mount Biggs, Mount Stewart, and finally to the Woolshed Cafe, from the south!

The place was busy, and sitting outside in the sun enjoying the Indian summer was a great choice. We were soon enjoying our favourites from the cabinet, with the sausage rolls proving popular, and Rays fish pie was up to its usual standard, as were the refreshments. The conversation flowed from politics through to Moto GP and all too soon, it was time to head back to town. However, for Rich and me, we decided on a little diversion on the way to Manfeild to see the Victoria Motorcycle Clubs TSS Motorcycles Race series, and it was certainly ideal conditions for it. The place was buzzing, and it was great to see David out on his recently purchased Honda NSR 250 track bike building up his track time. It was great to see thirty plus bikes out on the track at once, even in these difficult economic times. Nice to see the rider generational spread, which bodes well for the future of the sport.

What a great way to spend a fine autumn day, and looking at the weather map with its massive high spreading from Tasmania to the Chatham Islands next Sunday is looking just as good!
