Kick Start and Girder Forks 2022

The Manawatu Classic Motorcycle Clubs April monthly meeting and ride was the annual Kick Start and Girder Forks run. This is where older and less powerful bikes are encouraged to come along for an outing which is little less challenging in terms of distance and time. The road captain for the day planned out a run over some very familiar roads that passed through  Hiwinui, Colyton, Ashhurst and finishing up in the metropolis of Palmerston North.

The new facilities at the Bunnythorpe Community Centre were a quite a change from the previous facilities with Winston, the tea laddy seemingly very happy in his new kitchen. The coffee, tea and biscuits were up to his usual high standards and once the dishes had been done the Gaham the road captain soon had us underway. It certainly wasn't a hurried affair with plenty of time to enjoy the countryside and the sounds of a BSA Bantam, a Triumph 500 twin, BSA singles, a Triumph triple, a Velocette, a Kawasaki and a host of supporting moderns.

All to soon we were pulling up to Cafe 116 on Napier Road which happens to be right next door to the local KTM and Kawasaki dealer. Some might say a place with a very nice view! Thanks to the organiser's of the run and we look forward to next years outing.
